What is a geek? Well Dictionary.com defines a geek as this…
geek Slang.
–noun
1. a peculiar or otherwise dislikable person, esp. one who is perceived to be overly intellectual.
2. a computer expert or enthusiast (a term of pride as self-reference, but often considered offensive when used by outsiders.)
3. a carnival performer who performs sensationally morbid or disgusting acts, as biting off the head of a live chicken.
Urbandictionary.com defines a geek as this:
Geek: An outwardly normal person who has taken the time to learn technical skills. Geeks have as normal a social life as anyone, and usually the only way to tell if someone is a geek is if they inform you of their skills.
We’re not sure about the chicken thing, and for the most part we’re pretty amicable folks. In fact, we much prefer the urbandictionary definition…and if that’s what the guys over at dictionary.com think of us geeks, we’ve got a few words for them to define…and they’re mostly only four letters long.
Etymology aside, we’re geeks, and as such, we talk about video games, computers, movies, tv, and just about anything that could be considered a little left-of-centre.
